Evangelism is at the heart of everything we do. Our most important mission is to provide spiritual help by proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. We accomplish this by demonstrating God's love through our relief projects, building churches, providing evangelism training and materials, and by supporting local ministries engaged in this vital work.

Greta Van Susteren, host of “On the Record” on the Fox News Channel, received the Good Samaritan award during a visit to the Samaritan’s Purse international headquarters on Tuesday for her role in turning the spotlight on the plight of suffering people in North Korea and Haiti.

“Greta has used her position to be a voice for people who can’t speak for themselves,” Samaritan's Purse President Franklin Graham said. “She has raised a voice of concern, and been a Samaritan to help those who were not able to help themselves.”

Van Susteren twice has traveled to North Korea with Samaritan’s Purse, as well as visiting our projects in Haiti, and reported on our work on her nightly program.

“We in the news talk an awful lot about the bad things going on in the world. But we so rarely get to see the very good things and put the spotlight on them,” she said. “That’s what I appreciate about Samaritan’s Purse. I get to go out and put a spotlight on these problems around the world and the good things that are happening.”

Graham and his wife, Jane, hosted Van Susteren and her husband, John Coale, on their visit. They toured our facilities in Boone, North Carolina, including our medical warehouse that ships supplies around the world, and our North American Disaster Relief facility in nearby North Wilkesboro.
