In 2011, individuals, families, churches, and groups in the Northeast region packed 294,074 shoe box gifts for Operation Christmas Child that were sent to needy children worldwide--nearly a five percent increase from 2010.
For more than a decade, Operation Christmas Child has answered the call to share the love of Jesus Christ with hurting children around the world. In 2011, more than 8.6 million shoe box gifts were collected internationally from the United States and 10 other countries. Since 1993, more than 94 million gift-filled shoe boxes have been distributed to children in more than 130 countries worldwide.
Operation Christmas Child regional representatives and volunteers in your area can help you get involved with the project and are available to speak at group or church meetings or give media interviews. To find out more about how you, your church, or your group can be involved with Operation Christmas Child, please call or .
AREA TEAM DEVELOPMENT
Operation Christmas Child volunteer opportunities are organized by Area Teams. By localizing volunteers to their communities, they can focus their efforts on one area. Volunteers can join an existing Area Team or partner with regional staff to develop one if it is not in place. Each coordinator position represents one volunteer position, while team positions have no limit on the number of members.
Is God calling you to use your gifts and talents in the ministry of Operation Christmas Child? Becoming a part of an active Area Team is an opportunity to make an impact on children who are refugees of civil war, survivors of natural disasters, and victims of extreme poverty.
